I learned about the Blue Ocean Strategy several years ago. In their 2004 book, Blue Ocean Strategy, Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne coined the terms ’red ocean’ and ‘blue ocean’ to describe the market universe. You can read about the differences between red ocean and blue ocean strategy and their four actions framework here.
As I was working through the details of creating my coaching and consulting business, naturally I spent lots of time thinking about a name. As often happens, it came to me in the middle of the night – it was so clear! The ocean can evoke a sense of tranquility and peacefulness, but tides can change and storms brew. It is unpredictable, gives life, sustains life, and takes life. This beautifully represents both people and the twists and turns of existence.
A blue ocean is not only vast and deep but also layered. I see endless possibilities in people and situations and uncover value in unexplored spaces. I will partner with you to view things from a different perspective and work through the layers, meeting you wherever you are and getting you to where you want to be.
